This is the RHA's 175th Annual Exhibition in an almost unbroken series since 1826. Since that date generations of Irish art enthusiasts have flocked annually to RHA exhibition venues as diverse as the Academy's first headquarters in Lower Abbey Street, to temporary facilities in the National Gallery and College of Art, and since 1985, to the RHA's present premises in Ely Place. Looking back over nearly two centuries the catalogues of these exhibitions project in microcosm clear pictures of the changing profile of Irish Art.
