Contemporary Classic Maximalism: Høyersten Contemporary

12 - 28 February 2026
Overview
The exhibition stands out as something completely different from how we normally present art and curate exhibitions. While our heart still beats for contemporary art of the highest class and tightly curated exhibitions, this time we have chosen to take art out of the traditional "white box" and let it flourish alongside quality furniture, oriental rugs and antiques.
At Contemporary Classic Maximalism, we put our contemporary artists in direct dialogue with history and a wide range of different aesthetic expressions. We have transformed the gallery into atmospheric zones, interior scenarios, and/or installations, where innovative art meets:

- Exquisite antiques from Mohn Kunsthandel
- Modern design classics from Expo Nova Bergen
- Oriental textiles from Lars N. Nygård

Synergy between the new and the old

We explore how the highest quality contemporary art changes character when placed in vibrant, tactile environments. Here we celebrate the meeting of the minimalist and the maximalist, the historical and the hypermodern.

Art by Thomas Pihl, Nick Theobald, Maya Stefania Willing, Eamon O'Kane, Søren Sejr, Annine Aasen, Jan Freuchen, Martin Bigum, Jani Lennonen and Maarten Vanden Eynde will be shown .
